Council Chamber
A working day, in the office. I’d been asked to prepare for a new councillor familiarisation meeting in the chamber. It was an opportunity to explain the work we do to these new members of the council.
Frustratingly, things changed during the morning and in the end the meeting went ahead without our assistance. One of the irritations of hybrid working can be an element of confusion when planning events. My manager had planned our approach to the meeting, based on the information she’d been provided. Other team managers had interpreted the brief differently, but in the end the organiser failed to give clear instructions, which resulted in the confusion.
I dropped into the garage on the way home as a service advisory had come on the car, reducing the mileage to next service from 1550 to 1200 miles in less than a day. With the recent problems with the car’s systems I thought it might be another glitch, but apparently the car is capable of monitoring the quality of oil in the engine. The type of driving I do, mainly short trips with the odd long journey, causes degradation of the oil more quickly. It’s now booked in for an oil change next week.
