My Favourite Book

I do have other favourite books, i love books full stop! but this book is quite special in The fact that my hubby is mentioned in the acknowledgements on the first page of "Life Along Lands Edge".
In 2002 he went on the "Roebuck Bay Expedition" along with Grant Pearson who is the research scientist from Perth, and husband and wife team Theunis Piersma and his wife Petra who came from the Nederland's also R.Scientists. Danny Rogers is the Bird Watcher from Perth who is also mentioned in the book
Glyn had the enviable job of taking them out on the mudflats as he was the Hovercraft Operator for C.A.L.M ( Conservation And Land Management) at that time (since then the department has been re-named and is now known as D.E.C, Dept Of Conservation)
The scientist & Biologists came on the expedition to find out why wading Birds flew from as far as Siberia to the mudflats of Roebuck Bay to feed?
The photographer was Jan Van De Kam he is a renowned photographer and film maker from Holland, Glyn took him on his hovercraft all over the bay to shoot the photographs for this book, the hovercraft was the only way for the photographer to get close enough to blip" the wading birds as the mudflats can be quite treacherous with the deep mud and fast incoming tides which Glyn could read quite well. They met up again four years later to do it all over again, as the first expedition was a huge success.
The book if you can get hold of it is a beautifully illustrated book about life for all wading birds at Roebuck Bay Broome.
