Funeral

This afternoon we went to the funeral of our friend Debbie's mother.  Debbie comes from a family of three sisters and a brother.  It's  a close, lively family.  Edith, their mother was a German-Jewish emigré and a practising Christian.  She was a feisty character, kind, generous, strong-willed, often opinionated and pretty indomitable.  

Pretty much every member of the family love animals.  Debbie, a former primary school teacher runs a riding stable and often takes in more horses and donkeys than she can really cope with.  One sister works as a veterinary nurse, another sister runs an animal sanctuary  and also takes on too much, only one sister is more restrained in pet ownership.

Edith loved her dogs particularly Staffordshire bull terriers.  Up to her death she only had a Jack Russell and a Doberman cross which I've blipped.

It was a moving funeral, a lovely tribute to a life well and fully lived.
