What kind of beastie is following me...

in my kayak??
Today I got out for a fairly early kayak.. yay! I didn't check the tide schedule because I was going to go early regardless of the tide. I got to Smith Cove and the water as at it's lowest. I'd never kayaked in that low of water here. No worries, I just had to walk a little farther to the water. But I didn't take into account how low it would be all around the island that I paddle around. I had to go way out to get around all the rocks that I normally would float right over. It was pretty interesting. The seals were out in force on the exposed rocks and were a little concerned about me. I didn't go near them but I need to bring out my good camera next time.
As I was out I saw that the tide had turned and was beginning to come in. As I made my way around the island I came to a sandbar. I just sort of sat there but I was watching the ripples coming and the water rise. It was pretty cool. I moved on until the next sandbar. It was rougher so I did get out and walk the kayak forward. It was a really nice morning.
The extras are me sitting on the sandbar. You can see the little ripples of water moving along. And a wide view of the cove with the small town of Castine in the distance. That's the town I look at when I walk down the Wharf road
