Tapa

Blip is of a large Tapa wall hanging which has very likely been gifted. My guess is that it is from either Tonga or Samoa. Tapa is a bark cloth made in the Pacific Islands using the inner bark from certain trees which is softened and pounded into cloth. It plays an important ceremonial role and is also used to make clothing. I would love to watch the process as it is being made in the villages.
