History
On a Sunday drive out east with the parents, on a middle-aged stroll about Dirleton Castle. We were directed by the helpful assistant to this, the Dovecote, which from the outside looked like an old Gale's honey jar, and inside, like this. Some poor geezer back in the day would have had the job of collecting the pigeon poo, 'cos it had some explosive property that gave it the name 'poor man's gunpowder'. Fascinating, eh? The kids were more interested in fighting with toy swords.
