We went to see Mildred Freeman due another very entertaining and fascinating talk on Mother's Ruin: The History of Gin.

* "Dutch Courage" because Dutch Soldiers used to swig Genever (Dutch for Juniper) which later evolved and shortened to Gin by the English) before engaging in battle.

* The Dutch brand BOLS is an original supplier established in 1575.

* Juniper (and lavender) were put into the pictured mask, when it was thought that smell spread the plague.
