Harvest Time
A memory popped up in my Facebook Feed reminding me of a visit two years ago to the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum where they have saved, moved and re-erected buildings through the ages from across the Weald in SE England. So today it was time to make another visit.
They also farm the land using traditional practises and implements. This trio of percheron draft horses are pulling a reaper binder which reaps and binds corn into sheaves which are then stacked by hand into stooks (upright bundles) to dry. They will be threshed later in the year using a steam thresher; the more modern combine harvester will also do the threshing, hence its name.
