Herriot Country
We just happened to be passing this famous doorway so naturally stopped to to take a snap. 'Just happened' because our hotel in Kirkgate was a few doors along from the old surgery so passed it on our route to the market square.
Now a visitor centre with all flags flying, it celebrates the stories written by the vet Alf Wight under the pen-name James Herriot and the subsequent films and television series based on them. We did not feel the need to call in as we had been a few years ago, when relatively newly opened and, I suspect rather simpler.
