A - Z tour of Cornwall 'L'

Today we finally got around to letter 'L' of our A - Z tour of Cornwall. Both Jules and myself have been working loads over recent weeks so it's taken us a little while to do this one.

As the weather was glorious we decided to walk from St Ives on the coast path through Carbis Bay to Lelant. It was rather warm and we quickly decided that our walk should be broken up by a few beverage breaks.

The walk from St Ives to Carbis Bay was beautiful and it's easy to see why people rave about the views here. The beaches were golden and the turquoise sea was glistening in the sun light.

The walk was steep in parts but all the hard work was rewarded with a nice cold drink at the Carbis Bay hotel. As we got to the hotel we met up with some of the family who had the same idea and had walked the coast path with the 5 springers. They had decided to stop here for lunch and although we were temped to join them, we had to finish our challenge for the day.

We continued along the coast path taking pictures en-route (see blipfoto) until we reached Porthkidney Sands beach. This long sandy beach was fairly quiet and nice if you want to get away from the crowds. From here we headed through the links golf course into Lelent itself and onto the Badger pub for more refreshments.

As the train station to get back to St Ives was on the edge of Lelant, we then continued along to The Old Quayhouse pub for another drink before getting the pretty coastal train back to St Ives.

A lovely day out :)
