Ludlow
SATURDAY
A short drive over to the historic market town of Ludlow. Stopped off at the Ludlow Farm Shop for morning coffee and some produce and then a couple of hours exploring the town, shops and outdoor market. As the skies darkened, we avoided the rain by stopping off for lunch at Ye Olde Bull Ring Tavern.
Afterwards, we called in at Stokesay Castle (English Heritage) An impressive example of a fortified manor house - one of the best preserved examples in England (see extra) complete with tea room where we sampled the coffee and cake.
On the way back to the holiday cottage, we called in at Bishop's Castle. Yet another "historic market town" which this coming week celebrates the 450th anniversary of the granting of the town charter.
