In the middle of the road

Mallards run this part of the Waitakere Range. Everyone stands by when the wish to cross the road. If (like this young male) they want to settle in the road, drivers manoeuvre around them. There may well be more mallards in our neighbourhood than any other bird species. Sparrows may give the some competition. Certainly there will be more than there are tui.
