Bird Perches…?

These piers once supported a dock leading to a former fish cannery. The waters in the background once teemed with salmon returning to the Fraser River to spawn. A combination of overfishing, consolidation and automation resulted in the end of many of the more remote canneries along the coast.

These birds are glad for a place to rest and bask in the sunshine.

The ferries in the distance are shuttling cars and passengers from the BC mainland on the right, to Vancouver Is. and the Gulf Islands in the background.
