Wealth and Power

A fun day.  A lunch meet up with John and Pauline. John is the only schoolmate I still keep in touch with. See extra. They live in Spain for a lot of the year so I only see them every few months. We chatted well into the afternoon. It's great to see them and catch up on news. 

This evening was the monthly meeting of the local arts society. I helped out staffing the bar. It's a fun job because it gives me the chance to chat to all the lovely members. In the first extra are two lovely ladies with the charming Bob. Tessa on the left and Mary on the right, who is one of our visits and trips organisers. She and Angela do a brilliant job with a visit organised almost every month.

In the second extra you see Elaine, membership secretary, with Val, our programme secretary and this evening's speaker.

The subject was wealth and power through the opulence of jewellery in China and India. Some amazing jewels and tales of vast fortunes.
