Journey forward

Stunning!!!

Today, we had stunning views of this Verreaux's Eagle-Owl (Bubo lacteus) in the Pilanesberg National Park. We had just started off for a morning walk in the Letsatsing Game Park, when son S was advised by a fellow field guide that he had found this owl perched in a Tamboti tree in Pilanesberg. We all jumped into a game viewing vehicle, and headed straight for the site.

This owl is Africa's largest, with the male bird averaging 1,7kg and the female 2,6kg. A truly stunning bird.

A great highlight for the weekend away.
