A Day Out
Some residents of Smiddybrae Carehome were taken for a day out on Sanday; and what a bonny day they got. It would have been far easier to go to an island where the crossing is not overly long, e.g. Rousay or Shapinsay or Hoy. However the destination for the intrepid adventurers was the Island of Sanday, quite a long crossing with a bunch of frail folk. On the way there they had a picnic in the mobility bus on the ferry. Later they went for a fish supper at the Belsair Hotel. At 93 my mother insisted on going for a paddle, although she spurned a ride on a donkey and candy floss.
All of this would not have been possible without the tremendous care, diligence and professionalism of the supporting Smiddybrae Care Team. We feel blessed that she receives such high quality care on a daily basis. Very special thanks to Kirsty, Maxine and ‘King’ David.
