Royd Moor Wind Farm...

...two straight lines of turbines and a random group...

The original 13 turbines were constructed in 1993, and had a life expectancy of 25 years - this has been extended to 30. They are arranged in two parallel rows of 6 and 7; they are 35m high, and provide electricity for 3500 homes.

Three sets of 3 much larger turbines are also on the site.

When I was working they were my landmark for getting home - at first they looked like a loose clump, but they rearranged themselves into two straight lines as you came closer.

Now when we go away for a few days, they welcome us back ;)

For those of you who may be interested - Roy purchased a set of replacement locking nuts at Heyner's in Wakefield this morning. They are a specialist in car parts, and we go to them for replacement wiper blades. They are very helpful, and always offer to come out and fit said items!

In fitting the new nuts this aft Roy found that the locking nuts on the other three tyres seem to have been loosened - so we wonder if someone has tried to pinch the tyres and has been interrupted?
