Illusion
Today was dull, so we chilled in the morning. After lunch of fresh rye bread, we went to Miðvágur to walk out to the end of Sørvágsvaten (lake) which is 50m above the ocean. By the time we'd found a good viewpoint for its waterfall, the weather had deteriorated, so the classic optical illusion where Sørvágsvaten appears to hang above the ocean - due to a long grassy slope to the cliff edge being foreshortened - was impaired (see extra). We then had a rushed walk back to get the bus to Tórshavn in order not to miss the Faroese cultural evening we'd booked.
We're there now, enjoying good local food, music, storytelling and dance (see extra).
