Bristol Harbour

After we got back from dropping Sophie at school, we caught the bus to Bristol as we had tickets for the matinee performance of Strictly Ballroom at the Hippodrome, starring Kevin Clifton of Strictly Come Dancing fame. He was a surprisingly good singer and actor and the whole cast was very good, making for an entertaining afternoon.

Being a matinee, the audience was overwhelmingly made up of those of us of a certain age. All I can say is it was a good job there didn’t have to be an emergency evacuation- it would have taken some time!

Afterwards we had a stroll around the harbourside, where I made this photo of the old dock cranes and the swing bridge. Fans of Casualty may remember that these cranes were frequent extras in the programme when it was filmed in Bristol.

We had a great Cuban style tapas meal in a restaurant there - think Spanish but with rum as an extra ingredient!
