The Law, Dundee
We didn’t really go that far today, just along the road to Dundee. But it was a lovely day and we set off around 9:30 parked up and then headed to Empire State for their excellent coffee and pastry.
The Law is an excellent walk from the city centre of Dundee, all uphill so great for cardio, and has the most fabulous views at the top looki g over the River Tay to Fife and way back toward Perth . The monument at the top is in memory of Dundee soldiers of WW1. Mum told me that when my Dad worked in Dundee he used to come up here for a sleep when he was on nightshift. Perhaps it was quieter than his digs during the day!
Walked back down and we were looking at the the initial optician shop called Spex Pistols and the owner popped out to speak to us and offered us a choice of the three flavours of chocolate- I chose the white chocolate one! How nice of him. I also loved the wall art on the outside of his shop.
We stopped at the DCA for the loo and then went to The Bach for a late lunch. I had poached eggs in toast with halloumi and we shared a bowl of Tots, like a mini hash brown.
By this time it was 3:30. Stopped off at Fisher and Donaldson for some cakes. Mum got a strawberry tart which she loves.
I popped up to hers around six to give her her tea. Her appetite is poor! She feels sick if she eats too much but her too much and my too much are quite different. Ive got cherries for her, strawberries and satsumas and jelly. She managed most of the mince and tatties and h to en snapped up the strawberry tart!
She got a call today from her friend Aileen from the complex who is now in Pallative care at Beechgrove. So sad, she has bone cancer and the family have now arranged to get her flat, which is below my mums flat, all cleared as she won’t be back. Mum told Aileen about her cancer diagnosis but she forgot the actual name of it! I wish we all could forget its name actually.
She’s finished her antibiotics yesterday. She’s so weak and tired but still sparky and witty!
