33 Years and Still Up For More!
It’s our 33rd wedding anniversary today and we celebrated by having dinner in Popeye’s (not the fast food chain!) restaurant tonight, 20 mins walk away from our door. It’s got Brazilian vibes and that suits us. The waiters know us and we like that too. 45 mins before the time of our reservation we were both cleaning the patio, hot and sweaty! But we got there, looking presentable :-)
We got married in Crail, in the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. It was a day full of love, fun, family, friends, music and dance. I remember that quite a few of our friends were getting married around that time and they were so stressed that they hardly enjoyed the day. We didn’t want that. My bridesmaid made her dress and I only saw it a few days before the wedding, when she arrived from London. She’d sent me a sketch and a piece of material, which I still use as a scarf sometimes. Our toddler of a flower girl was in bare feet as her mum hadn’t been able to find suitable shoes, and it was the first time for wee Callum (our page boy) not yet at school, to wear a kilt. He wore one cos his dad was wearing one. All great fun! I said a few words myself during the speeches, common these days, but less so back then. Our first dance (a waltz) was much much faster than we expected, because we’d hummed the tune fast to the band when we briefed them before. We spun round the floor, laughing.
A very happy day and 33 great years of love and friendship. Here’s to many more! Thanks Bb! We make a great team.
