Georgian houses
Went along to Charlotte Square to look at the Raeburn paintings collected at the National Trust for Scotland Georgian House. Worth a look. The dining room furnishings are good, and the below stairs hasn't been altered much from the original. Views from the back out to the Forth.
On the way out I stopped to talk to the NTS staff person acting butler; ex-service background, so he knew the Royal Scots club and was comparing the innards of that building to no 7. He also suggested that the Chanel pop-up next door at no 8 was worth seeing; it is. The building has been substantially refurbished, then Chanel shop fitted with temporary inserts. Two glorious ceilings, one painted, one in two colour plaster. In extra, the internal stair .. so many stair rods .. There must have been 20 staff, and no other 'customers' but me, so I got my own personal escort around the rooms.
A drier day; rain stayed off until early evening.
