A sea of stones
Cap de Llauset highest refuge of my trek. A huge ascent today 1700m total. It started easily enough with the path from Benasque back up to Puente San Jaime. Then track followed by a lot of granite boulder fields. Or as the translations to English on the info boards put it, rather more poetically , ‘a sea of stones’. Not something you get in the UK. See main photo - if you look really carefully you might find some of the red and white paint markers of the route. Very tough going with big sharp rocks and lots of care needed. The Refugio is a very futuristic modern building - see extra.
