Reflections on Ireland

We have driven south to County Clare passing many beautiful scenes. However the area also witnessed massive starvation during the mid-19th Century with a nearby stone cross (see Extra) being a memorial for over 400 people who perished during a walk through these hills in search of food (they were denied food at a nearby village, that was relatively well off for food). The memorial now also remembers others around the world who are facing starvation today.
