That's That

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

I got a call from my sister at 9.45 this morning. She was pished. It had (apparently) been a good wake.

"Well that's that," she said.

She sounded happy. I'm glad we worked things out. Whisky can fix everything.

Today was Matariki (Māori New Year) so a public holiday in Aotearoa. It is signified by the rising of the Pleiades star cluster, or the Seven Sisters. In Māori culture, there are nine stars in the cluster though, and they represent the deity of the winds and his eight children.

Caro sent a message to Abi and Libby:

"Of of the nine stars, one is Pohutūkawa, which is the star for remembering those who have passed in the year so far. So it was really fitting that the service was last night (for us) and Matariki today."

I liked that.

However, me and Caro celebrated a low key Matariki of tv and fooooood. Also cats. Lots of cats.

To tick both the cat and food box she drove me to the chippy where we got an extra fish for cats. The sun was going down and I took this picture of Caro taking a picture.

Maybe it's the New Year. Maybe it was Caro.

Maybe I'm shallow and it's the fish and chips but I felt happy.

S.

p.s. In other news I both burped and farted AT THE SAME TIME today. Caro looked shocked and said, "Christ, you don't know if you're comin' or goin' do ya?"

It took me a full 10 minutes to recover.
