Sammy Exploring Wadbister

A lovely sunny day, with clouds passing over, lovely and warm too.  Dark clouds tonight.

Up early, got washing out and then picked up friend Julie.  I had to pick up Peat & Diesel tickets from a friend in Bressay, so made a day of it.  A big walk with the dogs in the morning, lunch at the Speldiburn café, a look around the charity shop and also the main shop, finishing up with a cuppa at Charlie and Lorraine's (Umphray).  More washing out in the afternoon.  Working in the shop this evening, and a busy night of customers.  Might try a pint later.

I had a mission to find an Iron Age souterrain today, which I found, but was too wet to crawl into after the heavy rain yesterday.  The area did not disappoint, there was also an old abandoned crofting township.  The old houses and outbuildings are incredible, built extremely well, and probably made out of older settlements from the area.  Another place ticked of me and Sammy's list.  Taken at Wadbister, south of the Loch of Grimsetter, Bressay.

Extra is the entrance to the Wadbister souterrain chamber, which I'll come back to explore on a drier day.
