Replacing the photographers
The Chicago Sun-Times is to replace photographers, not with iPhones, but rather the journalists will be given iPhone camera training. It's a ridiculous move, of course it is and we could excuse the pun and say it was a sign of the times. It's also a sign of the dominance of the iPhone not only in the phone market but in the camera market. Or maybe none of that really applies and it's more a sign of cost-cutting and dumbing-down.
I use my iPhone on here as I have no pretence to be a photographer, let alone having an interest in pure photography. I of course recognise the skill and art in proper photography. It's not my place but I'd be on the side of those condemning the Sun-Times move.
