Le Phare des Baleines

We managed a bit of a longer jaunt today – cycling all the way to the lighthouse at Saint-Clement-des-Baleines on the westernmost tip of the island. We’d only planned to go as far as Ars but then decided to press on for the last few, more rugged kilometres to eat our lunch on the shore beneath the Phare des Baleines (we didn’t see any whales, though, unfortunately) ironically leaving some younger members of our party to abandon the race early instead. We stopped in celebration of our endeavours on the way home at a seafood place on the road into Saint Martin and feasted on oysters and prawns…
