Sea swallow...

...or Arctic tern. I'm not long back from a trip to the Farne Islands, a little way off the Northumberland coast, near Bamburgh and Seahouses. The islands are important breeding grounds for many seabirds, including terns. I love the way the light shines through their wings and tail. This bird certainly didn't love me and I think it was about to attack me - you are well advised to wear a hat as otherwise you will get a pecked head. We were very lucky with the weather, mostly sunny with only a little wind, and it was a great trip. Now I'm dead beat and need to go to my bed...
