my cousin and her husband are over from Australia so visited my mum today. It was lovely to join them and catch up . We even managed lunch in the garden before the rain came. 
  We spent some while going through some letters my grandad had kept from the war. They were passed on to my grandmother then my mother but look like they've been hardly touched over the years. Although mostly personal letters there are some that look like they were more official, including one relating to the truce in Europe. My grandad was a clerk working for Montgomery so I wonder if it was dictated by Monty himself, although presumably it wasn't sent.
