The Sign. Lumix M4/3 14mm

Back in the mid-'80s through the early-'90s, this unusual little drive-through bank office - a branch of the long-demised Bank of New England -, used to be where I went every Wednesday evening after work to deposit my pay check - long before the convenience of direct deposit.  Over the years, the building has changed hands from one bank to another.  Most recently, it has been a real estate office.  Then The Sign went up...  It was time to spring into action; the real estate developers are at it again.  Back in April 2014, knowing what was going to happen, I Blipped this little industrial building.  It was next to the bank.  That building turned into this.  Now the same developer has his eye on the bank, and here are his plans: a six-storey apartment building.  I put in a little selection of shots from today as Extras.  Mono seemed to work best to accentuate the dramatic clouds on a hot and humid day.  But the little copse of twisted pine trees over in the corner of the lot wanted to be in color.  I feel it's important to record the cityscape as it was.  As an addendum following some research, I learn that this little building is one of Boston's last surviving examples of Googie architecture.  Thank you, Wikipedia.
