Cloudscape

Today started with inversion fog and continued a day of dramatic fast moving cloud swirling in the wind. It was a short route to the next Refugio so I added in Montarno (2833m) highest point in this park as an easy side trip en route. Views and other hikers came and went with spectacular cloud layers. Lovely drifts of gentians near the summit too, and cowbells in the mist adding to the atmospheric feel. I got to wear all my warm gear for once! Later on it turned hot and sunny again as I descended to the Refugio where the helipad is doubling as a phone signal hotspot.
