Queensland State Cross Country Championship 2023

Ruben is in the Met (Metropolitan) West region as it's school based... It's his first time making States and it was his goal at the beginning of the year, so he achieved that goal... From there no pressure, as he's up against the best in the State and some are over 2 minutes quicker than him at parkrun... It's an 8km cross country course... But there's still aims... Not to come last, to beat at least one other Met West runner home, to finish in the top 40 out of 53 but most of all just enjoy the run...

Well he did really well in tough conditions, it was windy, it rained so by the last event of the day which was his event the course was chopped up and the clay ground in sections was slippery...
He finished in 30th place out of 50, ran a better time than he ran at Regionals by over a minute to make it to States... He was the 3rd Met West runner home... The course was long at 8.12km so his average pace over that distance was 3:47 minutes...

So very pleased with himself... We are very proud of him...

Oh and he's got a cold...
