THE PILGRIMAGE

Made a pilgrimage to the famous and magical Lough Gur in Co. Limerick this morning. This site is 5000 years old from the time the first farmers cleared the forests around the lake and built their stone houses. These Celts learned to make bronze spears and sheilds (some have been found in the lake). They built huge stone circles and all around this lake became sacred, this one is called The Grange Stone Circle. There must be more than a hundred stones in this circle. The ancient rituals were held on midsummer's morning where the suns first rays appeared through a narrow entrance passageway.
