missoula is a pretty sweet town, walked the length of the main drag both ways, and a bit of cross streets too, people so friendly took me back to Boise, smiles and hellos unlike big cities, two great book stores with super staff recommends, came away with more for later, the pass to Idaho is really high twisting, long - over Continental Divide and Chief Joseph and NezPerce territory, cannot imagine in winter, drove beside the Clark River, then the Bitteroot, and now it's one or another of the Salmon forks.  back in dry country, but looking at the river in Salmon.  still too warm for much till morning.  for me that is.

(extra, great coffee place in missoula,  and a pasture - finally a place i could stop safely, not much of that stop safely for sure - another 300 miles i think - tomorrow much shorter and back into old stomping grounds)
