On the Roof

We've had a wonderful day in Eli. What a scenic place with its  'boaty' Riverside, its cathedral and the history of the fens. Ely and other small local towns were islands at one point before the countryside was drained.
We opted for the Octagon tower tour which was magnificent.  Our guide was so good and kept taking us higher and higher up the medieval tower, until we were standing on top of it on the outside. 
The interior of the tower can be seen in the extra. As can a half way point where some of the Pre-Raphaelite shutters were opened so you could look down onto the nave.
