Everyday I Write The Book

By Eyecatching

To boldly go ...

We finally made it to Belem where there is this incredible structure -
Padrão dos Descobrimentos - on the sea front celebrating the great age of Portuguese exploration. I've aded an extra to show the scale. Actually it was the Portuguese attempt at exploitative colonisation which was no better than that of Spain's or Britain's. But it is moving and inspiring even if it is a lie.

We baked in the hot sun whilst queuing for three quarters of an hour for the Jeronomos Monastery. Worth it. The architecture is inspiring and the vaulted ceiling and keystones are magnificent.

Had a very light lunch in the Belem Cultural Centre in a cafe run by and for people with learning  disabilities. Fast food in the evening. Not great but filled a hole.

TSM got a new tattoo! See extras.

Exhausted tonight. Going home tomorrow. Been a fabulous week which is the subject of my latest podcast which you can find here:
