Little oasis
As will have been obvious, we've taken on a large house and garden here in County Wexford. Both had been a bit neglected in the years before we bought the house.
We've made good strides in sorting out the issues in the house, though some water on the floor under a skylight this morning suggests we may have another problem to tackle. And although we've had the outside tarted up, we've done little about the internal decor as yet.
Early on we had some trees planted. But our main priority in the garden has been to keep the grass manageable - Husky is doing a valiant job with ¾ of it, leaving us just ¼ to mow. And that is getting easier now we have someone to help. But the garden remains a largely monotonous green - we have a busy few weeks coming up, but in the autumn we must get some shrubs and perennials planted - we're being put to shame with the progress in Tain!
But this little corner, after the first couple of mowings, has been left to its own devices, and shows that actually it wouldn't take much to get some variety. Lots of clover, a few buttercups, and a large ragwort (though no cinnabar moth caterpillars)
The day started very wet but cleared up much better than forecast. We went into Adamstown for physio sessions (W for his shoulder, me for my back) this morning, and came out to sunshine, and apart from a couple of brief showers, it has been a sunny afternoon.
