Dear Green Place 2 - Glasgow Botanic Gardens
A walk along the Kelvin Walkway with friends in the glorious sunshine, starting and ending at the Gibson Street Gala (part of the West End Festival) with a detour into the Botanic Gardens.
There used to be an underground railway line operating through the gardens. It closed in 1939 but you can still see the disused platforms below, through the open-air vents behind the rhododendrons. With the park full of sunbathers, it's hard to imagine what it would have been like to sit there watching plumes of steam passing through the gardens from the trains below.
Today's view is Kibble Palace... when I worked across the road I used to love coming here for my lunch breaks. No matter the weather it always felt warm and peaceful in here.
No cygnets here, but some ducklings on the river. And a new tearoom :-)
