Urban Peace
This is the 'Peace Pavilion' by Atelier Zundel Cristea and is on display in the Bethnal Green museum gardens in East London.
'The torus-like 'Peace Pavilion' offers visitors unexpected experiences with new materials in an urban setting. The inflated PVC symmetrical tube sculpture winds and twists around creating a dynamic curving geometric structure that represents the ideals of peace: 'harmony, silence, pureness, kindness, happiness, appeasement, calm, reconciliation, serendipity, tranquility.'
A clear membrane is stretched across the outer ring embedded with a regular grid that is visibly warped by its organic nature of double curved surfaces, and creates an irresistible four meter-tall object for children to climb on or adults to sit under.'
