Mama Osprey and her wild offspring

I love the calmness and control of the female Osprey. She has fulfilled her duty as mother precicely and patiently, and is now quietly preparing herself to the day when both of her children fly away. Both of them have been banded already.

There was a short spell of rain and hard winds the other day, and as always when it is windy, one of the youngsters is so tempted to try the wings. When the wind blows under the wings it feels almost like flying! Mama Osprey is not interfering, just watching.
