Thinking about freedom
It is a remarkably strange feeling to look someone in the eye and say the words that will send them to prison.
We all needed the weekend to mull things over, and a couple of people changed their mind over the weekend. We reached a 10-2 guilty verdict this morning.
Some of us went for lunch afterwards to unwind and share the impact of it all... It is so strange to be officially minded for two weeks and then you go back on the street 5 minutes after you supply the verdict. It's exactly like "12 Angry Men" where you all go your separate ways after spending some intense times together. You need a transition moment! :)
I have no doubt about delivering the verdict, but it was tough to see the accused's parents break down.. a seaside walk was in order.
