A Peacock at Staunton Harold
Walking up the path from the car park to the Ferrers Arts Centre at Staunton Harold, we came across an enclosure that has become newly inhabited by a family of peacocks.
Here is the male, sadly in front of the feed bin so it's an extremely poor photo, but isn't he gorgeous?
His mate was in the same pen with three peachicks. She looked very matronly. We'd gone because I wanted to visit the picture framers in the courtyard to have a portrait of my mother framed and a print I bought in the RPS initiative to support Ukraine last year.
That done, it would have been nice to sit in the sunny courtyard to enjoy a coffee and ice cream but all the food outlets close at 4 pm.
Last choir rehearsal until the end of August tonight. We bade farewell to young Lukas, who'd only joined the choir earlier this year. He's going to Spain to train as a priest.
