Puligny-Montrachet
Today we drove from Ventimiglia to Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy. With a couple of stops, it took 8 hours and I was very glad to get here. The weather has been wonderful all the way - 26 degrees on the Riviera and 22 degrees from Aix-en-Provence to here with a very strong wind.
This is another of our favourite stopping places. We stay in a beautiful B&B called La Chouette. It's owned by a Canadian lady called Suzanne. Her French husband, Thierry, owns the grand hotel next door, Le Montrachet, which has a sensational restaurant (guess where we are eating tonight).
Last time we came here, about 15 months ago, the Place des Marronniers was being dug up and we feared the worst. But as you can see from this photo, it has been redesigned and replanted very stylishly. The town hall is the building with blue shutters on the left, and Le Montrachet is the building with white shutters on the end. The whole village is built in this wonderful blonde stone.
