Highland Bothy

From Venetian palaces to Highland bothies in the space on one day. This little bothy was tucked away in a glen behind the hamlet of Balgowan just along the road from Laggan.

As part of my friend's 50th birthday she wanted to head back to Laggan where she spent her 40th. But instead of a mad dash and train journey to bag a munro she organised us to walk 14.5m as part of the recently launched Gortex Scottish National Trail.

Quite a change from Venetian life but beautiful in it's simplicity. The day still delivered sun, rain and hail - what more could we expect in Scotland
