Guernsey airport apron

As part of the ongoing redevelopment at Guernsey airport they are currently revamping the main aircraft parking area, its strange to see diggers and lorries where normally we would see aircraft. This picture taken from the viewing gallery (the upstairs lounge) is actually three pictures stitched together (not very well unfortunately) and shows the scope of the work.

This is from the states of Guernsey website:

The Project

The Airport2040 project, which will cost up to £80 million, comprises various elements. They include the resurfacing of the existing runway, extension of the safety areas, and the reconstruction of the concrete apron areas where aircraft park. The taxiways which connect the aprons to the runway are also being resurfaced, and realigned, and a new drainage system, airfield ground lighting and navigational aids will be installed.

All of these elements contribute to the overall cost and complexity of the project, which will be carried out while the airport remains operational.
