Mx sneaked in with me early this morning and immediately began his stream of consciousness chat….this time about Sports Day and how he’s going to train up Mt&H so they “do better in the mummies and daddies race next year”! After half an hour of fidgeting and chatting we got up and went down for breakfast (with his running commentary on what he’s allowed to eat and/or usually does at each step of the process!).. Afterwards Mx had to write a final thank you card for one of his teachers and he worked very diligently at it, just as he’d done with the others last night….I’d not seen him write so much before. Interesting to see how he underlined the diphthongs and trithongs and talked about ‘tricky words’…he’s certainly been a sponge at school this year! AR had got dressed then split her time between swinging energetically on the swing and reading the Beano which she’s very excited to get through the post addressed to her each week.
Chatted to Mt for a while then breakfast with them when H got back from taking the kids to school, then drove up to P’s where A&N were staying. We got stuck in to moving all the furniture around so that he’ll be able to once again spend some of each day in his chair. After some discussion about possible layouts and a lot of hard work we got it all done to his satisfaction and he pronounced himself very pleased at the result. Also managed to sort out the other rooms downstairs, and even cut the front hedge and do some weeding at the front and it all looked much better. Went to buy the last few bits he needed as well as some flowers and a newspaper for him then made up some sandwiches for my journey, loaded up Paisley and drove north.
Straightforward trip and I arrived at A&N’s where I’ll stay with Paisley til they return on Sunday. Nice to pootle round their garden to see how things are growing. Paisley was really good in the car and we didn’t stop anywhere but just pushed on, with me listening to the next book group book, The Woman in the Purple Skirt.
