A rare vist from a greenfinch

I was pleased to see this greenfinch visiting the sunflower feeder this afternoon. There have been a lot of the usual suspects gobbling down the seeds during this rather inclement summer season.

A nuthatch arrived and was very territorial spending moire time seeing off other birds than actually getting seeds. Nuthatches seem to  be able to take many seeds into their mouths and then fly off to their safe place to eat or even pass them on to their family.

The greenfinches are quite private and never seem to appear in groups but they don't seem aggressive to other birds that want to share the space on the feeder. I like them.
