Katastrophenalarm
It keeps on raining. Today evening a disaster alarm was issued for my home county of Freising and the state of emergency was declared. During the coming night it is estimated that the rivers Isar and Amper in the cities of Freising and Moosburg reach their maximum level and might submerge their dykes and flood the cities. The blip shows the bridge across the Isar in Moosburg at around 4 o'clock, with the river still well below the dyke top. Fingers crossed that it stays that way and let's hope for the best!
Other cities in Bavaria were hit much harder already. The historic center of Passau, although used to severe water issues, is suffering from the worst floodings since the Middle Ages and the medieval city of Regensburg is preparing for the worst case during the night. Autobahn A 8 from Munich to Salzburg had to be closed because the water level of Lake Chiemsee has risen so high that it washed across the autobahn.
