Waldport

We are each recovering from our exertions, feeling better each hour with sea air and wind, with no responsibilities, with good books to read and all manner of wildlife to watch: stellar jays, towhees, a few rabbits, chipmunks, and of course sea gulls, pelicans, and surf skoters galore. We planned to walk from Governor Patterson Park to Alsea Bay in Waldport. Not far. A mile, maybe. Deep sand all the way. I gave up halfway and sat on a bleached log enjoying textures and shapes (2nd extra), but Sue found a splendid surge of energy, walked to Alsea Bay and then jogged back in the water’s edge. She found the shell of a tubeworm (extra 1) and brought it to me as a gift. The bottom half of the shell is "female," and the top half is "male" according to the book (published in 1970) at the beach house.
